MapIndex is a regular grid of rectangular (first level) or square (second level) cells coded with alphanumeric characters. It has been defined for the Belgian territory and allows geolacating several events. The present version is a beta version which is submitted to the emergency services. It will evolve to a standard cartographic grid.
The entities included in the dataset represent the Belgian road transport network in the sense of the Inspire European directive. The dataset comprises several classes. The RoadLink class represents, in a linear manner, all of the road links between each pair of dots for the network considered. The footpaths, cycle paths or carriageways that connect the pairs of dots correspond to as many entities in the class. The RoadServiceArea class represents the sections of space devoted to auxiliary road transport functions, such as service stations or rest areas. In addition to this are two classes without geometry. RoadWidth class describes in metres the width of each segment of the "road links" class. The "functional importance" class ranks the segments of the "road links" class by functional importance on the road transport network.
Top10Vector – Rail network is the data set of the railway network in Belgium. This data set includes three classes. First class: rail network kilometre markers. Second class: railway stop. Third class: railway track segments. This data set can be bought via the corresponding hyperlink.
Emergency rescue zones corresponds to the dataset of the territorial delimitation of the emergency areas such as defined by the Royal Decree of February 2nd 2009 determining the territorial delimitation of the emergency areas in accordance with the law of May 15th 2007 on civil protection. This dataset is composed of two classes. The first class contains the identifiers, names and geometries of the various areas; the second is a class without geometry and corresponds to the table of Belgian municipalities with the emergency area for each of them. The dataset can be freely downloaded as a zipped shapefiles.
The entities included in the dataset represent the Belgian rail transport network in the sense of the Inspire European directive. The dataset comprises several classes and is in accordance with the INSPIRE specifications. The RailLink class represents, in a linear manner, all of the rail links between each pair of dots for the network considered. The RailwayStationNode class represents occasionally all of the stations located along the network. In addition to this are two classes without geometry. The RailwatType class ranks the segments according to the type of rail transport for which they were designed. All the segments for this dataset belong to the train category. The "RailwaytElectrification" class lists the segments according to whether they are electrified or not.
Electricity network is the INSPIRE vector data set originated from the High-Tension network of the product TOP10Vector of the National Geographic Institute in Belgium. The Electricity network is regularly updated with the ELIA Group data sources. It includes the "ElectricityCable" features and the "Pole" features in accordance with the INSPIRE specifications.
The data set presents in the form of polygons the breakdown of Belgium in almost 20,000 statistical sectors. The statistical sector is the basic territorial unit resulting from the subdivision of the territory of municipalities by STATBEL since 1970 for the dissemination of its statistics at a finer level than the municipal level. A statistical sector cannot extend over two municipalities and any point in the municipal territory is part of one and the same statistical sector. The 1970 and 1981 versions are shown in analogue format while the 2001, 2011, 2018 and 2019 versions are available in digital vector format. The files can be linked to the data on population, housing and disposable income on the website of Statbel.
Cadastral parcels - monthly situation corresponds to the dataset of the monthly situation of the cadastral parcels layer from the Land Register plan. The dataset is composed of two classes. The first class contains the geometries of the cadastral parcels; the second is a class without geometry and corresponds to a code table of the different fiscal situations used in the first class. The dataset can be freely downloaded as a zipped shapefiles.
The Royal Observatory of Belgium maintains several continuously observing GNSS tracking stations in Belgium. The stations are also belonging to EUREF Permanent Network (EPN) used to maintain the ETRS89 and the observation data are available to the public through https://doi.org/10.24414/FST8-P256.
Under the territorial divisions are grouped different datasets that represent fully recognised Belgian geographical units. The AdminVector dataset encompasses the statistical sectors defined by the FPS Economy, the administrative units maintained by the FPS Finance and their centres, as well as the boundary stones. The datasets of the judicial cantons and judicial districts are built on the basis of their definition in the Judicial Code. The dataset of electoral districts is built on the basis of its definition in the Electoral Code. The dataset of the postal districts contains the boundaries of the Belgian postcodes managed by bpost.
