View Service (WMS) for Automatic weather station (AWS) observations

CORINE Local Components is an INSPIRE compliant WMS service showing 4 "Local component products" covering the Belgian territory within the framework of a Pan-European coverage. The 4 layers cover 4 different products: Urban Atlas 2012, Urban Atlas 2012 Street Tree Layer, Riparian Zones and Natura2000.

This view service allows visualization of the Hillshade DTM1m, the shaded version of the digital terrain model at a resolution of 1m.

Mapindex is a WMS which allows viewing the regular index grid which has been defined on five levels for the entire Belgian territory. It has been defined in order to allow a zonal geolocation. The present version is a beta version (v2) which is submitted to the emergency services. It will evolve to a standard cartographic grid.

TopoMaps is a WMS allowing visualizing all images corresponding to the standard topographic cartographies made by the National Geographic Institute. As a result, it allows viewing cartographies on a 1:25 000 scale (Top25Map), on a 1:50 000 scale (Top50Map), on a 1:100 000 scale (Landcover100Map) and on a 1:250 000 scale (Top250Map), as well as the administrative map (AdminMap). With the exception of the administrative map, the cartographies show all themes of the topo-geographic inventory of the Belgian territory (ITGI) which is made and kept up-to-date by the National Geographic Institute: land use, transport, hydrography, buildings and constructions, relief, map lettering and toponyms.

Climate indicators for a present (1975) and future (2085) target year under a mean and high impact scenario (view and download service with raster files). The climate indicators for Belgium were obtained by a statistical downscaling based on the high-resolution Belgian climate model projections, as well as on a large set of both Global Climate Model runs (CMIP5) and Regional Climate Model runs for Europe (EURO-CORDEX).

This service allows the visualization of historical orthophoto mosaics based on available aerial photographs covering parts of the Belgian territory. The data is accessible via a Web Map Service (WMS). Orthophotos are aerial photographs that have been geometrically corrected (orthorectified) to eliminate distortions caused by terrain relief, lens distortion, and camera tilt. Unlike raw aerial imagery, orthophotos have a uniform scale and accurate geometry, making them suitable for cartography, measurements, and visual analysis. This specific service includes historical orthophotos from 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009, derived from aerial surveys carried out by the National Geographic Institute (NGI) and the Regions. From this period onward, both analogue and digital aerial photographs are available. The analogue images were scanned at high resolution and, like the digital ones, orthorectified. The resulting orthophotos were assembled into mosaics and georeferenced in the Lambert 2008 coordinate system. The orthophotos are either panchromatic (black and white) or in colour (RGB), depending on the year and location. The ground resolution (GSD) varies between 10 cm and 100 cm, depending on the sensor used and the surveyed area. The spatial coverage of this service is limited to the areas for which aerial photographs were available during the mentioned period. The service has been cached using the WebMercator TileMatrixSet, with a maximum scale denominator of 4,265.459167699568 metres (scale level 17).

CartoWeb.be is a Web Service (WMTS/WMS) containing cartographic representations covering 11 scale levels. CartoWeb.be offers a cartographic representation which has been developed specifically for on-screen viewing of the NGI’s most recent vector data sets. Three versions are available for the Belgian territory: 1) a TOPO layer containing a cartographic representation at all scales; 2) a TOPO-GREY layer, which is the symbolisation in different shades of grey and blue of the TOPO layer. It constitutes an ideal map background; 3) an OVERLAY (1:2 500 - 1:25 000) layer destined to be used as an overlay on other data (orthophotographs for instance). This layer contains the symbolisation of a few layers only. Two other layers, CROSSBORDER and CROSSBORDER-GREY, are available in order to allow viewing (only on the smallest scales 1:100 000 – 1:4 000 000) the European context of Belgium. The extent of this representation is limited and could change in the following versions. It is best to combine the CROSSBORDER layer with the TOPO layer. It is best to combine the CROSSBORDER-GREY layer with the TOPO-GREY-layer.
