Généralités sur la provenance

In the port of Zeebrugge, all nests containing one or more eggs are counted; data on other coastal breeding sites are (sometimes rough) estimates of the number of breeding pairs. Monitoring is carried out by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO) since 1997, contributing to the OSPAR Coordinated Environmental Monitoring Programme and the EU Birds Directive. In-situ nest counts (land/beach survey); volunteer-based population estimates at other coastal breeding sites. Calculation of breeding success from nest monitoring data; contribution to the OSPAR EcoQO assessment.
