Fish diseases dataset supporting the 2024 Belgian MSFD assessment of D8C2
This dataset is part of the 2024 Belgian submission for the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) linked to descriptor 8, criterion 2. This dataset reports the prevalence of external fish diseases in dab (Limanda limanda) in the Belgian part of the North Sea, as an indicator of the adverse effects of contaminants.

- Dab caught in the beam trawl hauls (up to 500 individuals per coastal/offshore assessment area) are inspected for external fish diseases following the ICES TIMES guidelines (TIMES No. 19). Monitoring is carried out by ILVO in the framework of the environmental impact assessment of dredge disposal sites and sand extraction areas in the Belgian part of the North Sea. 8m beam trawl, 22mm mesh. Visual external disease inspection of dab following the ICES TIMES guidelines.
