Hourly observations from automatic weather stations (AWS)
RMI operates a network of 17 automatic weather stations in Belgium. These weather stations report meteorological paramaters such as air pressure, temperature, relative humidity, precipitation (quantity, duration), wind (speed, gust, direction), sunshine duration, shortwave solar radiation and infrared radiation every 10 minutes.
Hourly AWS data are computed from the 10-min observations.

- Statement
- Hourly AWS data are computed from the RMI 10-min AWS observations available during the 1-hour period. The hourly data correspond to the sum of the 10-min observations in case of cumulative parameters (e.g., precipitation quantity, sunshine duration) and otherwise to the average of the 10-min observations. The tolerance against missing values is 16.6%, i.e., no hourly values are computed when more than one 10-min value is missing.
