- Statement
- The warnings of the RMI is a product based on the expertise of the forecasters, using different tools and datasets (observations, radar, satellite, numerical weather prediction output, ...). The forecasters attempt to identify the region (grosso modo the provinces of Belgium), the timing and the intensity of each phenomenon. Warnings are issued for the coming 36h. The output is translated into a colour and text corresponding to its intensity (green: no severe weather expected, yellow: the weather is potentially dangerous, orange: the weather is dangerous, red: the weather is very dangerous). The RMI is the only institute that can issue official atmospheric weather warnings for Belgium.
